Loving the here and now.

The other day I was thinking about how much I love this phase of my life. Looking back, I was thinking about the different phases in my life and how I didn't enjoy the time I spent in each one. In high school, I just wanted to get it over with so I could move on and go to BYU. Looking back, I wish I would have enjoyed having no responsibilities, not having to figure out what to eat everyday or how I would pay rent. I had a mom and dad who took care of everything and all I had to do was get good grades. In college, I just wanted to finish and start my career and make money. But everytime I take a stroll around BYU, I miss it so badIy. I miss going to class everyday and learning and becoming more educated. I miss the late night cram sessions. I miss leaving the testing center with a smirk on my face as I saw an A on the test results screens. I miss going to clinical everyday and learning how to be a nurse. I wish my "now" self could shake my "past" self and open her eyes to how great she had it, and tell her she should enjoy every second before it's gone.

Now for the first time, I think I am finally enjoying and just loving every part of my life right now. I have everything I could possibly want or need. An amazing loving selfless husband and a healthy perfect baby boy are the best parts of right now, but I also love that I get to be home with my baby most days. We wake up together, read books, eat together, laugh together, nap together, and I get to kiss those yummy cheeks all day long. Of course I'm still insanely busy. Being a mom, even just of one child, keeps me going non stop, and Kolby and I are more sleep deprived than we have ever been. But I love that I only have Kai right now and I can give him all of my love and attention.

I love that I still have time to keep the house fairly clean and experiment with cooking. I love that I still have time to exercise and blog.  I love that I still work as a nurse on the weekend here and there. I love that I have time to practice photography. I love that Kolby works so close and is only 5 minutes away. I love that we can pack up our little babe and road trip to Cali. I love that we can go out to dinner and not hire a babysitter because Kai will just sit/sleep calmly in his carseat. I know when I have 2 kids it will be much crazier around here. I'm trying to stop and cherish every moment I have with this little boy. This is the only time in my life where I will have one little baby in the house and not too many other responsibilities.  Life is overall pretty easy right now and I want to enjoy the ride while it's smooth.

Here's a few photos from our Tibble Fork excursion on Monday. The weather has been so beautiful lately and we just had to get outside and enjoy it!
